Face Your Fears

A number of my mentors have said to do something that scares you on a daily basis (or at least regularly). I’m certainly not an adrenaline junkie, although I do enjoy pushing my own boundaries every now and then. I find it invigorating to challenge what I believe is possible for me, especially when it helps me to realize that I’m capable of so much more than I often believe.

I recently had an opportunity to challenge those beliefs once again. I’m generally good with heights, as long as I’m on something sturdy – not like the scaffolds my Dad used to send me up on when I was younger when I was helping him build houses. As you’ll see in the video above, I recently climbed up to a little platform 30 feet above the ground and stepped off to experience a free fall. It wasn’t really a free fall, considering I had a climbers harness on that was attached to a cable designed to slow me down before I crumpled to the ground. It did take a fair bit of courage to actually walk to the edge and step off though. From the ground it looked fairly harmless – from the platform looking down was a whole other story though.

I’m now looking for my next adventure to step out of my comfort zone. I recognize that everything I want that I don’t currently have is outside of my comfort zone, and one of the best ways to expand that zone is to do something that scares me a little bit. I don’t suggest taking unneccessary risks, putting your health and wellbeing in danger, or doing anything illegal – just looking for ways to expand your belief in what you think is possible. Who knows what you can accomplish after you realize you’re actually capable of more than what your fears tell you is possible.

Leave me a comment below, and tell me what you have done, or will do to challenge yourself. Who knows, maybe you’ll inspire me to try something new also.

Believe In Yourself and Your Dreams

Have you ever wondered whether you’re wasting your time, money and energy with your dream? Do you have family members who don’t believe you can do it?

Your dreams are living in your heart, yet sometimes, along the way, you are faced with all sorts of challenges and perhaps criticism, that make you wonder whether your dream is attainable, whether you’ll ever “get there”, or whether there will ever be a light at the end of the tunnel.

It is too easy to just give in and give up on your dream when faced with challenges. This is why so many people fail to pursue their dream… because most people give in to the challenges that they are faced with.

Here are some tips to help you along your path to follow your dream:

1. Be clear about what your vision is. If you need help, look for books to help you clarify your vision, or seek help from a mentor or from a coach. “Vision is the art of seeing things invisible.” –Jonathan Swift

2. Set achievable goals and take action. Commit and spend time daily working towards achieving your goals. “Goals help you channel your energy into action.” –Les Brown

3. Surround yourself with positive people. Join clubs or network with people that are positive and living their dreams. Ignore your critics! “Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.” – Winston Churchill

4. Overcome Fear. Do not be afraid of failure or success. Take small steps and build your confidence up to take bigger steps. Stop the negative thinking and build positive pictures in your mind, of what your success will be like. “Thinking will not overcome fear, but action will.” –W. Clement Stone

5. Develop a ‘refuse to lose’ attitude. This attitude can make the difference between success and failure during difficult or challenging times. Persistence and determination will pull you through and past any obstacle. “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” –Thomas Edison

Dedicate your life to fulfilling your dream. Be unstoppable. Do not be frightened of challenges. Focus on how to get past your challenges. We all have our breaking moments. Before you throw in the towel, ask yourself why you started to pursue your dream… and do you really want to tell a loved one why you gave up?

Check in to see how much action you are taking. Are you planning too much and taking less action? Are you spending more time on something you know you need help with? Most successful people (if not, all) have a mentor or a coach to guide them along their journey to success.

Remember, too, that success doesn’t happen overnight… and most of all, have faith, and allow yourself to fulfill your dream so that you don’t have to say to your loved one: “I quit because I was scared.”

Laughter Boosts Success

When laughter gives you happy moments, it can contribute to your success, in every aspect of your life, whether personal or business.

How can laughter contribute to your success?

Laughter that we generate in response to something we see, hear or experience to be funny, allows us to relax, and our endorphins race through our body, creating an explosion of Happiness and good feeling inside our bodies!

You’ve probably heard the saying “Laughter is the best medicine.” Well, it is. There are endless studies of people that actually heal themselves of all kinds of illnesses with laughter. Among many things, laughter lowers our stress level, relaxes our muscles, eases anxiety and fear, improves our mood, and attracts others to us.

Laugh More Often

With so much going on in our lives, take time to laugh. Allow yourself to laugh more today than you normally do in a day. Make it a goal to increase your “laughter time” each day. Allow yourself to laugh so hard, so that your sides may hurt and you’ll likely shed a laughing tear or two. (My wife easily does this just watching: “Just For Laughs Gags”!)

Try watching some classic videos of Victor Borge. He’s hilarious! One of my favorite laughter-inducing video is that of Bob Newhart (“Stop it!”). Not only is this funny, it is inspirational. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYLMTvxOaeE Whatever it is that can make you laugh, do it more often.

Share Your Laughter

Whether you post a favorite funny video or quote on any social network group or send it by email or make a call, etc., just find something funny and share it. You will feel twice as good: for laughing, and for sharing laughter.

“The human race has only one effective weapon and that is laughter.”-Mark Twain

Laughter For Success

By bringing more laughter into your daily life, you will be less stressed, more focused, and more relaxed. A healthy attitude brought on by some laughter and fun spirit will help us enjoy our work, feel more positive and attract more success. Go on. Have some fun, enjoy some laughter, share some fun, and watch what happens. “Laugh often, Dream big, Reach for the stars!”

Success Secrets: Surround Yourself With Successful People

Success Secret #1: Hang Out With Successful People

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” – Jim Rohn

I can’t stress how incredibly powerful it is to learn from people who have already achieved what you desire to achieve. If you focus on finding people that are success-driven, successful, and of similar interests, you will be inspired by successful people who take action to their ideas and possibilities, and make their dreams a reality.

Successful people are focused on finding solutions. They don’t allow themselves to be controlled or limited by fear. They are too busy with being productive and creative, while holding a positive mindset and emotional state. Successful people take responsibility for their actions and outcomes, no matter what they may be. Successful people are also life-long learners and constantly work at educating themselves.

More Successful People Secrets

Here’s a few other secrets most successful people do that you can do, too:

Stay accountable. Work with someone who can help you stay accountable, and who will push you to do something you don’t know how to do, or who will force you to stretch.

Read. Look up books that include material that exemplifies the life you’d like to live, and teach you things you’d like to do. Feed your mind with educational and positive material.

Join. Find networking groups or clubs, blogs, forums, personal growth seminars and network with successful people. Associate with them and learn from them.

Set goals. Start with small achievable goals and work towards more challenging goals. Setting goals will give you direction for improvement, positive change, and growth.

Get a mentor. Most successful people in the world have or have had mentors. A mentor will give you guidance, support, encouragement, and accelerate your learning curve.

You Are Who You Hang Out With

“If you hang out with chickens, you’re going to cluck and if you hang out with eagles, you’re going to fly.” – Steve Maraboli

If you’re not happy with your income or your job, the best thing you can do is to start hanging out with successful people, and positive people. Pay attention and be aware of who you’re hanging out with. You don’t have to ditch your “old” friends or dysfunctional or pessimistic family members. Spend less time with negative family members and friends. Make new friends with people who are ambitious and very successful.

Successful You

“Life has no limitations, except the ones you make.” – Les Brown

Take a chance, make a change or be open to change, keep a positive attitude, and hang out with people that make you feel good and encourage you to be the best person you can be in this world, to live your very best life. After all, the only person responsible for the quality of your life, is you.

10 Top Tips For Entrepreneurial Success

When I first left my “secure” j-o-b, I was scared and didn’t know where to begin. I also thought that building my dream would be easy, and would only take a matter of time. I was right about the time part, but didn’t realize how much there was to learn.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have many mentors in my life to help me fast-forward my learning curves and to guide me into doing what I love to do, which is to mentor others to create more wealth.

These are some valuable tips I’ve learned along my journey that I would like to share with you, so that you too, can become more successful:

Entrepreneurial Success Tips:

Success Tip #1. Never stop learning.
Educating yourself is so important, and it’s a never-ending requirement for every successful entrepreneur to learn the business, stay ahead and keep up with market and industry changes and demands. Empower your mind.

Success Tip #2. Network.
Network with like-minded people and experts in your field, and surround yourself with positive people. Always look for people and opportunities to network and expand your contacts. Jim Rohn best put it: “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”

Success Tip #3. Hire A Mentor.
A good mentor can help accelerate your career and support your growth. Most people
underestimate the value of a mentor. A mentor can offer valuable insight to things that only experience can teach, as well as help you define your goals, and improve your accountability.

Success Tip #4. Don’t let fear of failure hold you back.
We often learn best from our mistakes. Failure is an opportunity to learn. Steve Jobs said: “Sometimes when you innovate, you make mistakes. It is best to admit them quickly, and get on with improving your innovations.”

Success Tip #5. Believe.
Believe in yourself and your dream. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You have to believe in you because sometimes the only person that does believe in your success is you. You should actively visualize success in your mind that you can almost feel it, or touch it.

Success Tip #6. Take Action.
Don’t wait until everything is just right. If you’re waiting for perfection, you’ll be waiting forever. There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. Now’s the time to get started. With each step you take, you’ll gain confidence and knowledge to take you farther and be more successful.

Success Tip #7. Use Affirmations.
The process of properly using affirmations will retrain your mind and create new thought habits to help you stay focused, have faith, and maintain positive feelings. Repeating affirmations will determine how quickly you attain results, big or small. For more details about affirmations, read http://mentoredlife.com/how-to-use-affirmations-to-attract-wealth/

Success Tip #8: Set Goals.
If you have a vision of what you want, setting goals will help you define that faster. Creating goals will give you a target to achieve to, to create your dream and make it a reality. One of my mentors, Raymond Aaron, inspired me with goal setting in his book called “Double Your Income Doing What You Love”.

Success Tip #9: Time Management.
Learning to discipline yourself to stay focused and manage your time is key. You will be more organized, more relaxed, have more freedom and flexibility, and you will certainly be more happy.

Success Tip #10. Give.
Successful entrepreneurs have open minds to give and receive. They have a strong desire to give to others, whether it be money, time, energy, or resources to help give others a little boost. We’ve all learned lessons. Why keep those hard lessons learned to ourselves? Why not pay it forward, share it and help others save time, money and live a fuller and happier life? “A person’s true wealth is the good he or she does in the world.” –Mohammed

All of the above key business success tips for entrepreneurs can be learned and developed. No one is great at all of these things. Just as a toddler takes his first step, then falls, then gets up again, then masters and develops his movements into walking, an entrepreneur can learn something new and develop to success. Consulting with a mentor can help you to fast-forward through the learning curve as you seek to invite success into your life.

It is also important to continually fill your mind with inspirational books, stories, articles, and movies, etc. Find out about people who started out with nothing, had incredible setbacks and yet still found a way to win. No matter how bad your circumstances may be, there’s likely someone in a worse position than you. Be grateful for all of the things you do have and for all of the things you take for granted, and you will find that your problems pale in comparison to others.

To your success…

Design Your Life

A mentor of mine once said “Stop DESCRIBING your life, and start DESIGNING it!”

Those were powerful words that really hit home for me. You see, I’ll bet i’m not much different than you and can find yself in the middle of a pity party before I know it. You know, it’s like those times your day got off to a terrible start and the first chance you get you’re compelled to share your experience with someone else. Can you believe it took me an hour to get here this morning! And then, I finally get here and some jerk is in my parking spot! This whole tirade can carry on and on, and in most cases, what does the other person say in response? You think that’s bad – wait till you hear about what happened to me!

That’s exactly what I mean when I said describing your life. Have you had similar experiences?

My goal today is to persuade you to see that by designing your life rather than describing it, you’ll be able to live happier, healthier and more fulfilled days.

Have you ever wondered what the catalyst or spark is for all of your feelings, actions and results? It’s actually your thoughts. There’s a reason 2 people can experience the exact same event and have 2 completely different reactions to it, and it’s because of the thoughts they attach to it.

Albert Einstein once said the most important question a person can ask is “Is this a friendly universe?” My take on this is that we all have a choice in how we perceive the events and circumstances we face. Another of my mentors Jack Canfield describes himself as a Reverse Paranoid believing that the world is plotting to do him GOOD!

Over the past decade or so I’ve invested a large amount of my time and money into my own self education. In that time I’ve discovered 2 simple ways to more consciously design my life.

The first key is to have goals. Without clearly defined goals you are destined to wander aimlessly through life, or at best play a role in helping fulfilling someone else’s goals and dreams.

In numerous studies, and indeed in my own life, the simple act of putting goals down on paper dramatically increases the likelihood of them being achieved. Tony Robbins says that people will overestimate what they can accomplish in a year, but grossly underestimate what they can accomplish in a decade. So write your goals down, and then make continual small progress towards their achievement.

The second key to designing your life is to feed your mind. If you’ll treat your mind the way you should treat your stomach and give it the right fuel it’ll reward you tenfold. One of the best analogies I’ve ever heard to help illustrate this point came from another of my mentors, Raymond Aaron. He said to think of your mind like a fertile patch of soil. If you want that soil to produce a beautiful flower garden what must you do? You have to plant seeds, and then nurture them with water, fertilizer and ample sunlight. Now let me ask you a question. If you don’t plant seeds and nurture them, is it true that the soil will remain in it’s original state? Anyone who’s ever done any gardening knows that the answer is absolutely not. If you aren’t proactive and look after that plot of soil, before you know it, it’ll be an overgrown patch of weeds. Your mind behaves in much the same way.

That’s why you must continually feed your mind with positive, stimulating, uplifting, thought provoking materials. The 3 best ways I’ve found to do this are:
1) Seek out and surround yourself with positive people
2) Turn your vehicle into a university on wheels. Listen to educational audio programs instead of Talk Radio and Top 40
3) Read more, and watch TV less

An interesting survey conducted in 2003 revealed that one third of high school graduates will never read another book again in their lifetimes! On the flip side, nearly every successful person I’ve studied or met has been a voracious reader.

In closing, I’d like to persuade you to take a more active role in designing your life. If you have goals for this lifetime, and I’m quite sure you do, I want you to take some time in the next 24-48 hours and write down a list of 10 goals you’d like to accomplish in the next 3 years or less.

Second, I want you to carve out a few minutes a week to read a book that can support you in achieving those goals. It can be a biography, a personal development related book, or just a book on a subject that interests you. Did you know that by reading just 10 pages a day, you’ll complete 10-15 entire books in one year. That’s a far cry better than never reading another book again. Learn from the materials you read, and discover ways to implement the lessons in your own life.

It is my wish that from this day forward you seek to DESIGN YOUR LIFE instead of simply describing it!

How To Use Affirmations To Attract Wealth

What is an affirmation?
Affirmations are simple statements that describe a desired positive situation (also called “positive affirmations”). In “You Can Heal Your Life”, Louise Hay has written an excellent book with appropriate affirmations to cover all aspects of your life. It’s a great book to get started with affirmations however, it is always best to make affirmations personal to you.

How do affirmations work?
The use of repetition is the secret to why and how affirmations work because your mind is receptive to repetition and will adapt to new messages more readily and easily. The repetition process will retrain your mind and create new thought habits. Our mind works on habit, so the repetition process is key to success.

We create our experiences by our thoughts and our feelings. If we are experiencing and thinking negative thoughts, we need to shift that change by reprogramming our mind to think and believe positive experiences and thoughts by applying the use of repeated, positive affirmations.

It is important to know that the effectiveness of repeating positive affirmations will only work if you continue to keep them positive throughout the day, rather than repeating positive affirmations for a few minutes, then thinking negatively throughout the rest of the day. You must block out the negative thoughts, if you wish to attain positive results. The more you block out negative thoughts, the easier it is to do this.

How Fast Do Affirmations Work?
They can sometimes appear quickly, but more often, it takes time to create a new habit within our mind. It could take days, weeks, months or more. Staying focused, having faith, maintaining positive feelings, and repeating affirmations will determine how quickly you attain results, big or small.

Relax any physical, emotional or mental tension while affirming. The stronger the concentration, the more faith you have in what you are doing, the more feelings you put into the act, the stronger and faster will be the results.

Tips for Writing Affirmations:
• Affirmations are more powerful when they are personal. For example: “I, your name, am successful in what I do.”
• Always phrase your affirmation in the positive. For example: “I, your name, have unlimited abundance” instead of “I, your name, no longer have to worry about having abundance.”
• Don’t get hung up on knowing how your desired situation will appear, set the intention and have faith that
it will manifest and happen.
• Feel and visualize each affirmation, and say them with conviction.
• Make them short and clear, as they are easier to remember.
• You will need to put in some actions, in order to manifest. For example, don’t sit on the couch and watch TV, take action to get the results you desire.

Examples of daily affirmations to attract wealth and all the good you want and deserve into your life:
• I, your name, have endless ways that I can receive money.
• I, your name, have an easy life and I have an abundance of what I need.
• I, your name, have unexpected income flowing to me.
• I, your name, now give freely and receive freely.
• I, your name, am prosperous and wealthy.
• I, your name, have money coming to me easily and frequently.
• I, your name, have wealth pouring into my life.

Affirmation tip:
If you have children, it’s a great idea to introduce affirmations to children while they’re young. Get them going on the same path you are working on now, rather than later. Here’s a good book, also written by Louise Hay for children, “I Think I Am.” Both books, “You Can Heal Your Life” and “I Think I Am” also make a perfect gift for your friends, grandkids, nephews, nieces, colleagues, etc. “When we give, we receive”…

Empower Your Mind To Success

Think and Grow RichMost people don’t realize that an empowered mind is an amazing asset. Having an empowered mind will determine our circumstances, our opportunities, our health, our happiness, our success level and financial independence. It is essential in learning to achieve our highest potential so that we can become great leaders and empower others to be successful.

People tend to forget about their dreams, not because they couldn’t achieve them, but because of the influence of parents, teachers and other authoritative people telling what one can or cannot do.

You have likely heard of the book ‘Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill, or have read it. When one of my mentors introduced me to this book, my first thought was how can one “think… and grow rich”? After reading it a couple of times, one powerful lesson I gained from this book, is that with a clear desire and a concrete game plan, anyone can be successful, because that burning desire gives such an inspiration to follow one’s dreams and achieve higher living and fulfillment.

I realized how much our mind influences what we do and impacts everything else. Our thoughts are more powerful than we truly think they are. With the right mindset, our thoughts can stimulate creativity and belief in abundance and prosperity. Napolean Hill said: “Whatever the mind can conceive and then believe it can achieve.” Very powerful words.

I would bet that there is not a single mentor or successful person that would not agree.

This classic book, written so many years ago, is filled with so many simple messages, that I intend to read it over and over. I hope that you will too. If you do not have this book, don’t get it at the library, buy a copy and read it. You’ll quickly understand why to reread this valuable book. To your success…
